What is the Maximum Farming System? The basis for the System design is planning, nutrition, service and education. Every field and every aspect of every field is taken into consideration when making management decisions. The System is then customized to each farm, field, and zone within the field because what's best for one farm, in one location, isn't always best for another. #AgSpectrum #MaximumFarming ... See more
Throughout the corn belt, crops are often planted when soil temperatures are below those which enable soil microbes to convert ammonium forms to nitrates, so the form of nitrogen ideally should contain the nitrate form to facilitate plant nutrition. The microbes that are active when soil temperatures are between 55° and 62° F the to be those that immobilize ammonium nitrogen. #AgSpectrum #MaximumFarming ... See more
Research being conducted by Dr. Cliff Johnston at Purdue University has shown that agronomic nitrogen use efficiency (i.e. the amount of fertilizer N turned into marketable yield) in corn could be significantly higher than that achieved with current Extension-based recommendations. #AgSpectrum #MaximumFarming
Learning from the Maximum Farming Reports, a feature of the Maximum Farming System.
This was really neat to witness the other day. I guess you could say it was one of those moments where the proverbial student becomes the teacher? So what is going on here? First let me set the stage: The weather is really nice and I show up to simply drop off 2020 yield reports. There are already lots of outside jobs taking place on the farm and I do NOT like holding anyone up from progressive work. But when I say I’ll drop it off; Garrett says “Hold on, I’ll be back from the field in a few minutes and let’s look over the reports.” When he arrives he also grabs Brett, an awesome employee, and says, “you should see this too.” So I start going through it and Garrett takes over to explain the findings. He does a great job showing what factors are affecting yield. Especially what nutrients correlate to yield! It is really cool to see this because he is teaching other members of his team not only what they are doing; but WHY and HOW! Helping lay out the vision so everyone is on same page and more of a sense of ownership. Thank you very much for allowing me to experience this opportunity. Farmers who have been on the Maximum Farming System for more than a few years know that using the proper rate, form, and placement of nitrogen at the time of planting is critical to achieving optimal production. It is important to band nitrate-rich nitrogen fertilizers at planting and side dress ammoniacal-rich forms some time after V5 to maximize crop growth and yield potential. #AgSpectrum #MaximumFarming ... Too many farmers miss the opportunity to apply well-established scientific principles that can ensure better nitrogen use efficiencies. In the Maximum Farming System, farmers are asked to consider the 5Rs of fertilization (right product, right form, right rate, right time, and right placement) in order to get the most out of their input dollars. #AgSpectrum #MaximumFarming
What if by simply changing nitrogen management practices, growers could save input dollars and increase the volume and quality of the crops they grow? It may sound too good to be true; however, simple plant physiology suggests these benefits can be accrued by growers virtually every year, with every crop they grow, by disciplined use of nitrogen inputs. #AgSpectrum #MaximumFarming
Seeing this testimonial from one of our many independent dealers says a lot about how we help our customers look beyond just applying more fertilizer. Sometimes, less can mean more. We help our dealers help their customers look deeper.
